Srisailam Dam Sees First Gate Opening of Season, Later Closed as Inflows Decline

The Srisailam Dam early monsoon operations began with the opening of four crest gates - 6,7,8 and 11 on July 8 to manage rising floodwaters. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu attended the event and performed Jala Harathi. At the time, inflows exceeded 1.53 lakh cusecs, pushing storage to 200 TMC of its 215.81 TMC capacity, with water levels at 881.6 ft.
