This Hill Station is a favorite spot for travelers, known for its mix of green hills and old traditions. You'll find walking trails, caves from long ago, and lovely places to see the views. It's perfect for a quiet trip or some outdoor fun. This mix of nature and history makes it worth exploring.

When I first heard that Ananthagiri Hills was one of the oldest forested civilisations, I had to see it for myself. A quick drive from Hyderabad led me to Ananthagiri Hills, and wow, what a hidden gem! As someone who loves short weekend escapes, this one ticked every box- scenic roads, misty treks, and waterfalls tucked deep in the forest.

Standing at 1,168 meters above sea level, I felt connected to history, to nature, and to myself. If you're looking to explore nature and its past, Ananthagiri offers both, beautifully.

Our trip to Ananthagiri Hill began with a peaceful visit to the Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple. Hidden in the quiet forest, the temple gave a sense of peace and calm.

The temple's old-world charm and the stories behind it added so much depth to our visit. Locals shared legends about Rishi Markandeya and how the temple dates back to the Dwapara Yuga, so fascinating! I was surprised to learn that the Nizam Nawab helped build it 400 years ago, which shows how this place brings people of all backgrounds together.

After seeking blessings, we started our trek to Godamguda Viewpoint. Standing at the top, I could see endless layers of green hills, the winding Musi River below, and the open sky above.

It felt like time slowed down for a bit. I took so many photos, but none could truly capture what it felt like to be there. For anyone who loves nature, this spot is a must-visit. Rent a car and head to Vikarabad from Hyderabad and don’t miss a single stop along the way. For anyone who loves nature, this spot is a must visit.

After catching the early morning calm at the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple and soaking in the sunrise views at the viewpoint, we headed off to the serene Kotipally Reservoir. The moment we arrived, it felt like a quiet hug from nature. The still blue waters surrounded by soft green hills gave us a chance to just breathe. We found a shady spot under a tree and sat there as the breeze carried away the week's stress.

And fueled by snacks and stories, we began our hike toward Katiki Waterfalls. The trail had just the right mix of challenge and charm, muddy patches, swinging branches, and the occasional monkey sighting. The waterfall made it all worth it. The 50-foot drop was incredible to see in person, and some of us braved the cold water for a quick swim under the falls. It felt like a mini jungle adventure.

As I wandered down towards the Musi River, it felt symbolic, starting quiet and small, only to grow bigger and more important over time. Maybe it's the same with moments like these. Ananthagiri Hills didn't overwhelm me with sights, it quietly healed me with silence, greenery and grace.

As the sun dipped lower and golden light spread across the hills, we made our final stop at Sarpanapally Lake, just a short drive from the viewpoint. It felt like the perfect ending to our day, a quiet, tucked away gem wrapped in the lap of nature. The locals call it Sarnapally Cheruvu, and though it was originally built for irrigation, it now serves a different purpose entirely.

As we sat there, unwinding from the day's trek and adventure, it felt like Sarpanapally Lake wasn't just another destination, it was a reminder to slow down, breathe, and let the landscape do the talking.

Ananthagiri had given us a little bit of everything, and this quiet lake was its softest, most beautiful goodbye and That’s why many travelers Hire a car for a scenic drive to Vikarabad, Hyderabad to enjoy the drive at their own pace.

At the end of the trail

As someone who loves peaceful getaways, Ananthagiri Hills was the perfect escape. The views were absolutely stunning, and the calm waterfalls made me feel refreshed. From early morning treks with misty hilltop views to exploring ancient caves and forest trails, every moment was exciting. It's a great spot if you're looking to spend quality time in nature without going too far from the city.
